what the fuck. why is it everyone's reaction to scream at girls baking cute pies for getting Trump into office. this seems so ironically counterproductive and blatantly misogynistic
honestly I feel like it's because striking out at something you can see is easier than admitting that ideologies are slippery, often invisible things
everyone would love to have a code for ferreting out trad types, a visual signifier you can spot beyond an actual, overt insignia or slogan (which most of them, especially women, don't wear). and a way to signal to others, without fail, that they are Not Like That. it's comforting to say "don't wear this or do this, and avoid anyone who does, and you will be Safe and signal to others their safety around you"
but the real world just. doesn't work like that. you cannot tell someone's politics from their aesthetic, with very few exceptions. and all that "avoid XYZ because that's trad!!!!" leads to is alienating people in your community who do the thing you've decided to demonize, and making yourself miserable if you want to do those things or wear those clothes

i am not anti sam but i sometimes find myself hating sam because some samgirls are super into bio/gender essentialism whether or not they realize it. sam is a woman and dean is a man and sam is the victim and dean is his abuser like what show are you watching?
#as much as we all like to have fun these are two cis men characters who have roles to play in the narrative they don’t escape#they are both being abused. we find this out *fully* in s14#but it’s always been present. this is the abuse sam and dean winchester show#but some of y’all don’t actually understand abuse! you think abuse is just being mean and yelling#‘sam is a woman because his autonomy is taken away’ your idea of womanhood is fucked up and you should unpack that#if you compare sam to a woman because he’s been SA’d then you are WEIRD. they are both men canonically getting SAd????#like yes dean has some weird stuff about his own gender that he needs to unpack but it’s part of a mask?? like if u genuinely#believe that he seriously 100% believes this stuff then you don’t know his character at all#and yes their relationship is toxic but if you think for one second that there’s a genuine power imbalance then you’re sorely mistaken#dean’s entire identity is based around taking care of sam. sam can do wrong but not enough to be truly held accountable#it doesn’t matter what he does. dean will always protect him and be there and do whatever it takes to save him. he will always forgive him#and sam knows this and uses it to his advantage. he repeatedly goes behind dean’s back and avoids the communication he says is so important#he blames dean for shit that isn’t his fault because he’s there#and no he may not fight dean on stuff but he can. he often doesn’t because he doesn’t want to!#they enable each other and they don’t grow because they can’t because there’s always something else BECAUSE THEY’RE BOTH BEING ABUSED BY GOD#they’re not allowed to take a break. they’re not allowed to slow down or stop or rethink it’s always the end of the world#so yes some of y’all annoy me with the ‘i wish dean was nicer in the midst of his trauma’#shit or saying that therapy fixes everything stuff or whatever#and the fact that so many of y’all use that to treat sam like some fragile white woman who can’t#have an opinion without her husband’s permission is WEIRD like your gender stuff is weird#and just repacked essentialism onto them. idc if you’re trans. unpack that shit cuz your meta is full#of rad fem friendly or adjacent shit if you refuse to talk about gender without using abuse as an argument#because that does not hold up in canon of these two FICTIONAL MEN!!! or in the real world#(edit: most of the stuff i see is by cis women but im saying ‘idc if ur trans’ bc it’s not exclusive to them)#supernatural#sam winchester#dean winchester#wank adjacent#maybe just straight up#fandom wank

I’ve had the displeasure of having to meet and interact with a lot of young chronically online right wing men and. They do not care how nice you are to them. I was as civil as I could be in that living situation, as well argued as possible, forever affirming my perspective was coming from a place of compassion. And it did not make a lick of difference. They simply did not respect anything I had to say because I was, to them, a hysterical woman with crazy SJW ideas like “racism exists”.

tiktok has made me terrified to befriend other women irl (and people irl in general) because i keep seeing these videos where women will be like “it’s such a red flag when girls are too nice, it comes across toxic” or like their boyfriend’s best friend will have a girlfriend and he’ll introduce her to the op and op will be like “i just don’t trust when his friend’s girl wants to be my friend, huge red flags” and everyone in the comments of these posts will be like ‘yessssssssssss girl totally agree’ but like what???? why?????????????? is there something im missing here?????????? and this is why whenever i mention wanting to befriend new people let it be known im specifically talking about wanting to befriend neurodivergent/autistic people because i genuinely dont understand what the fuck neurotypical people are talking about 80% of the time ahahadhfpogisrjgori

just finished watching Uncle Vanya for the first time. I think Doctor Astrov and the Professor should kill themselves
#uncle vanya#ASTROV WHY YOU STARTED OUT SO GOOD. I LIKED YOU. FUCK YOU I HOPE YOUR MEDICAL ASSISTANT KILLS YOU OR YOU GET MAULED BY A BEAR#capital fucking punishment for making Sonia miserable. and fuck Chekov most of all#Astrov didn’t even respect the woman he DID like. Vanya was weird about her too but he seemed at least more romantic that Astrov#the doc got feeling back for the first time in a long ass time and went fucking nuts. out of control.#I felt bad for Yelena but she was also enabling him … but I can’t dislike her bc that woman was in an awful situation as well#also Astrov could have been fucking nicer to Vanya while his friend of 17 years was fucking suicidal. like I know why he couldn’t but cmon#I know he like. snaps out of it for a second and tries but his talk is basically ‘it’ll be nicer when we’re dead’ bc he also wants to die#and poor fucking Sonia has to talk her uncle off the ledge herself. girl was the only one carrying the entire clan of people there#also he was being a dick trying to pressure Yelena to leave her husband (which like. I know she hated him but let HER decide) and run away#I DO hope Yelena poisons her husband and moves on though. girl was SO fucking miserable#that play was just ‘everyone is miserable and no one gets a happy ending.#there’s a monologue at the end about dying being the only thing to look forward to for these people from the one person#whos trying to hold everyone together bc even she can’t find a bright side.’#vanya was an asshole but man he didn’t deserve that either. that poor fucker.#anyway. JESUS. I’m tired after that. that play just started sad and got steadily worse until it was fucking awful.#which yea I guess that mirrors the way the characters are feeling quite well but fuuuuuuck#the men in Uncle Vanya? sad but they’re all flawed in major ways. the women? THEY DESERVE SO MUCH FUCKING BETTER.

Omg it is a joke *with* the girl part they are literally being sarcastic have you perhaps noticed that all of the people making these jokes are women, ~~having fun~~
I know people on this website doesn't lose it's mind to this degree about queer people who say "I can't drive/read/do math/ do sports, I'm gay", because they can understand that it. Is. A. Joke.
The whole "girl math" thing is literally adjacent to people reclaiming the term "bimbo". Women not being good at maths, being gold diggers and spendthrifts is a stereotype that's been perpetuated in a both media and general culture forever. After a lifetime of "women be shopping" jokes, a bunch of women online turning the joke around to make eachother laugh and 'justify' getting themselves little treats isn't "perpetuating gender stereotypes", it's making fun of them.
I've seen a couple Instagram reels about "girl economics", and as an economics student the first thing I have to say is "simplified" =/= "stupid". Most of these are videos show pretty solid economic concepts applied to every day life scenarios that's not stupid lmao that's a teaching method.
Why is called girl economics?
A couple reasons - firstly, it came about as a result of the "girl math" meme. "Women don't understand money" isn't a brand new stereotype the tiktok girlies made up either, they're using a common stereotype against them to educate themselves and eachother whilst also ~~making a joke~~
Secondly, the people making these tiktoks are all female creators making content for their audience who are largely women. They use typically feminine examples. (Yes, yes I know, not all girls like these things and you don't have to be a girl to like these things. But these people are girls, and they like those things. That's not bad. Especially if they're using it to further their financial literacy). They're not saying "this economics is for girls bc it's stoopid" they're saying "this is for *the girls*".
you can improve literally any word by adding “girl” in front of it btw. girlscared. girlnormal. girlweird. girlsilly. etc. girl can be such a beautiful focal point of anyone’s vocabulary

Knowing that shit like that is happening even more and more and more since the previous years in South Korea, makes me even more and more weary or anxious even fearful of seeing even their celebrities.
I try my hardest to give benefits of doubts, but... When almost 50% of the male population in SK, especially the younger ones, the tiny middle schoolers, literal children, are committing such heinous crimes just because they claim not to know any better, and because they can.
It makes me anxious to not know my faves at all. [personally I mean. And even if I did, I probably would never know them or the bad side of them. Not like people go around showing their dark side, unless they're in the government positions and are Elon Musket Piece of Shit.]
They're just faves, but... What will happen the day I find out that they're also perpetrators and psychos?
It's disappointing.... The world....
I'm tired of it.
But here is the happening that shook me quite a bit. And yeah it's coming from South Korea: [not that I wasn't, but this just made me lose even more hope. TW: Sexual Assault TW: Sexual Harrassment TW: Abuse TW: Sex Crimes TW: all the fucked up things.]

been reading an f/f regency romance and the love interest is kind of an asshole to the protag. And it’s like on the one hand, diversity win, this female love interest is exactly as much of a condescending jerk as some fictional male love interests! #Feminism! On the other hand, I dislike it as much as I would in a male love interest :/

I've seen someone understand and agree with statements like OP's and *still* continue being cruel. Having the gall to say 'fuck you you're not entitled to anything' when this complaint actually comes from the cis men. Sure sister, that is literally true - no-one is obligated to offer attention to anyone specific - but don't you think saying that about someone already broken is a bad idea? Don't you think framing it as being demanding is a little slanderous? With how watered-down the term 'incel' has become, used almost exclusively as a weapon against any boy who expresses frustration about this. 'Oh no, those women are totally justified! You're just a creep who refuses to take any personal responsibility.'
I think this is a small factor in why I've leaned into femboyism and a youthful demeanor. If I don't appear too masculine or too mature, I won't be seen as a threat, right? I'll be respected and accepted as 'one of the gals'? Treated like a goddamn human being? Or they think I'm early in a transition, which is a whole other can of worms with how uneasy being MtF makes many. But because I am still a boy, it at best delays the inevitable. I feel forbidden to make any approaches at all.
I don't think this is a 'western imperialism' thing, because I disagree on framing it as imperialism and doubt this is endemic to such influences anyway. But I'm just some guy.
Still bothered by the US cultural idea that men can only be non-romantically intimate with one another in war-like or competitive circumstances.
